The Suzuki GSX-R made its market debut in 1985. Lightweight and powerful, this is a sportbike that was modeled closely to the specs of a race bike. The 1100 version came out in 1986.
Up to 1992, all GSX-Rs were air/oil cooled. Early year models had frames that suffered from some handling issues. A major revision was released in 1996. Upgrades included: a modern frame, new suspension, new motor and SRAD (Suzuki Ram Air Direct).
2001 saw the introduction of the GSX-R1000. It contained a 988cc fuel injected motor that produced 160bhp. Over the following years upgrades were made to the fuel injection, intake, exhaust, and styling.
Today, thanks to its power, quickness, and handling, the GSX-R is considered by many experts to be one of the top sportbikes in the world.
